Greater London
Greater London is the top-level administrative division of England covering
London. It was created in 1965 and spans the City of London, including Middle Temple and Inner Temple, and the 32 London
boroughs.This territory is coterminate with the London Government Office Region and the London European Parliament constituency. The region has by far the highest GDP per capita in the United Kingdom. It covers 1572 km2 (607 square
miles) and had a 2009 mid-year estimated population of 7,853,600. The term Greater London was in use before 1965 to refer to a variously defined area, larger than the County of London and often similar to the Metropolitan Police District.
Greater London consists of 32 London boroughs and the City of London that, together with the office of the Mayor of London, form the basis for London's local government. The Mayor of London is elected by London residents and should not be confused with the Lord Mayor of the City of
London. The names of several boroughs, such as
Westminster or Camden, are well-known, others less so, such as Wandsworth or Lewisham. This traveller's guide to

Greater London boroughs
| Enfield. In 2007, Enfield Town centre completed a major redevelopment project under the name PalaceXchange while retaining the Palace Gardens Shopping Centre. An extension was added to the existing retail area with many new shops, and a second multi-story car park was built along with a new road layout.

| Waltham Forest is a London borough in northeast London,
and forms part of Outer London. It is a mix of built-up residential development and a variety of forestland, reservoirs, open space, parks and playing fields, which make up a fifth of the borough. It is located between Epping Forest in the east and the River Lea in the west, which form two green corridors passing into London from the surrounding countryside.

Some of the more familiar local landmarks include Alexandra Palace, Bruce Castle, Jacksons Lane, Highpoint I and II, and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
