Holstebro

Holstebro is located in northern Jutland and with its 34,873 inhabitants (2014), the largest city of Holstebro. The city is located near Storå and is a major commercial center with a network of pedestrian streets, and with industry in the production of food, iron products and machinery, wood and furniture, textiles and chemical industries. The city has a Regional Hospital which is part of the Region of Central Jutland. The local newspaper is Dagbladet Holstebro-Struer. Holstebro street scene is characterized by a number of modern sculptures and works of art.

The Business areas are located near the city's ring road. Holstebro built mainly in the 1960s and 1970s a diversified economy and relatively many are employed in the food, wood, furniture, textile and plastics industries. The foundry and machine factory "Birn" is the largest private company in Holstebro. The Hospital (1895) is another great site.

Holstebro is well endowed with higher education. Since 1953, Jyske Dragoon Regiment remained in the city's southern outskirts. In 1989 inaugurated Regional TV station Mid-West  its buildings east of the city by Vandkraftsø.

Holstebro is a vibrant commercial and training center near the sea, forest and heath, but is best known for art, culture and modern urban planning. Holstebro is twice named "Town of the year", which is not surprising, as it is the powerhouse of culture, education, trade and business development throughout North Jutland. and the city is surrounded by beautiful and varied scenery. The oldest town charter of Holstebro,  from 1552, has been a settlement at Storåen already in ancient times. Several major fires have ravaged the town, the largest, in 1754, was attached by a maid who would take revenge on her husband. She was beheaded on Gallows Hill.
Holstebro is a commercial hub in West Jutland. The major road network stretches out to all four corners of the world. The city lies at Storå where the river outwash is narrow and adjacent to the fertile moraine deposits in the north and to Skovbjerg Hill Island in the south.

In the city a sculpture at almost any street corner, and the city has the country's best music school, which is a major supplier of musicians to the great Danish and foreign orchestras. the Royal Theatre's ballet school is the only place outside the Royal Theatre department in Holstebro, which is also home to Peter Schaufuss Company , ballet in world class.

The experimental theater Odin Theatre was founded in Oslo in 1964 and established himself in 1966 as the Nordic Theatre Laboratory in Holstebro. The theater has toured around the world and has since 1971 been recognized and supported by the Ministry of Culture and regional theater supported by Holstebro City Council.
