However, it was not until the 1900s that Aarhus really started growing and soon became Denmark’s second largest city after the capital of Copenhagen. Dubbed the cultural capital of Denmark, Aarhus has been on the forefront of defining Danish art and culture for years, which is also shown in the city’s architecture and in the up-and-coming designer shops across Aarhus. Its 60 m tower offers you a great view of the entire area. More, if you visit Aarhus in August or September, you might have the occasion to enjoy a ten days festival, the largest festival from that location. It presents another theme from one year to another, as symphonic concerts, operas, recitals, theatre, jazz or folk concerts and more.

It is a wonderful place, with unique architecture, as gothic frescoes and a stunning altar, handcrafted.
