Sæby (Saeby) is a port city in Northern Denmark with 8,803 inhabitants ( 2014), situated in Frederikshavn Municipality in North Jutland . The city is located at the river's outlet in the Kattegat, approx. 12 kilometers south of Frederikshavn and 50 Kilometers northeast of Aalborg. It became a town in the year 1524th
Sæby is today the town in the much of the southeast Vendsyssel and is an important /Provence? town that attracts vacationers because of its beaches and the old market town. In summer the town is visited by many boaters who at the entrance to the harbor can experience the city´s modern landmarks Lady from the Sea , one 6.25 m high figurehead of the artist Marit Benthe Norheim, established in 2001. Saeby's oldest landmarks is Sæby church , St. . Mary's Church was originally a Carmelite monastery with vaulted ceilings with extensive murals. The oldest parts of the church building dates from the first half of the 1100s, while the other parts incl. tower dates from the 14 - and 1500s. Close to the church is Sæbys old squares and marketplace Klostertorvet (orig. Old Square ), with the old town hall from 1750.
Generally Sæbys center is dominated by old houses and streets. Elder's main street is Algade, stretching from Klostertorvet to Soendergade . Point 3 is Clasens Hotel, which is a timber-framed building constructed in 1750. Hotel has been visited by famous authors such as Herman Bang, Gustav Wied in the latter part of the 1800s, until in 1920 folded as a hotel and turned into the Ancient Home. In No. 7 for Old Judge Gaard, built as a merchant's house in 1848. Modern Breakthrough author Adda Ravnkilde (b. 1862 - d 1883 ) lived with his parents in the farm judge from 1881-83, where there is a memorial tablet to her. The city's second oldest town (and now former police station ) originated in 1848 and is listed in late classical style. City Hall is located in No. 14 In continuation of Algade, the Strand Street , passing Sæby Church toward Havnevej .

Enough is Sæby old-school charming with plenty of story to tell, but the city is both awake and innovative with lots of activities and events that make the city fresh and alive.

Nature beckons with wide sandy beaches and high dunes south of the city by Lyngsa . By Voerså is the bird sanctuary Stensnæs - a haven for wading birds. This is also the area's most beautiful canoe rental with canoeing for the whole family up the broad , green Voer Å.
